Pookie and Willie
Meet Our GladPets
Gladstone Animal Clinic has had the pleasure of treating countless sick or injured animals who need our help. However, two very special animals have helped us through the years.
"Pookie" and "Willie" are two full time feline residents of Gladstone Animal Clinic that live with us. Many times both cats had volunteered their services to help other people's pets--from helping us show how easy it is to give a pill, to how to brush out mats, search for fleas, or even how to trim cats' nails safely and easily. In dire situations, both cats have even assisted in blood transfusions for other cats in critical cases.
For some time the task of assisting other cats had fallen to "Bashfull" and "Charlotte". But as the years progressed our famous felines' health prevented them from giving blood. With the retirement of "Bashful" and "Charlotte", newcomers "Willie" and "Pookie" have taken over the duty of donating blood for transfusions and helping out when needed.
"Bashful" and "Charlotte" are no longer with us. They lived out the twilight of their years munching on Science Diet and getting petted by the staff. "Pookie" and "Willie" are still donating blood and are doing fine.
This page is devoted to the cats who have helped to make a difference here at Gladstone Animal Clinic. These four are very special animals and are more than just pets. They are what we like to call a GladPet. In memory of "Bashful" and "Charlotte" we would like to give you the opportunity to showcase your GladPet. Just E-Mail a photo of your pet with a short description of what makes your pet a GladPet to tmschlager@msn.com. "Willie" and "Pookie" will pick the best submissions from time to time, so watch for new pictures to be posted here of true GladPets.
We at Gladstone Animal Clinic are always on the lookout for GladPets--animals that aren't just great pets, but pets that really make a difference in their people's lives!

Tinker and Buddy both enjoy taking in the great outdoors--at least from the doorway that is. Buddy is a German Short-Hair/Lab mix who is seven years old. Tinker is a three year old Chihuahua and great friends with Buddy. Both Tinker and Buddy have been GladPets since they were pups at Gladstone Animal Clinic.

Marvelous Marvin was ten weeks old at the time of this picture, and as you can see he definitely is a pampered pet that like to cozy up under the covers. Even now Marvin still likes to get under things for a quick snooze. His other favorite thing to do is chew on just about anything--especially feet! His other favorite pasttime is to chase Mr. P, his feline friend of the house.

Shuggy is half Schnauzer, half Bijon. Shuggy is only 8 months oldin this picture and incredibly loveable. She has learned several tricks, the best one is her twirling like a ballerina. She loves chasing and playing with her Siamese cats housemates, especially "Stinky". The cats have finally accepted that Shuggy is there to stay! Shuggy also loves running like crazy in her huge back yard! Shuggy is a great example of a GladPet!

Kacee is a 16 month old, 5 pound Yorkshire Terrier. Kacee lives with two other large dogs, though he doesn't seem to notice the size difference. Kacee, feeling he must be as large as his adopted brothers does have one weakness: treats! His persistance for a treat is legendary and has been known to tug at pant legs and jump maniacally until he receives one. Luckily, Kacee's owners love him very much so he usually gets the treats he craves.

This is picture of Jade. Jade is a 12 week old yellow AKC female lab. Jade is very full of energy and has been known to get into nearly everything! Jade seems to be resting in this picture before embarking on her favorite activities of chasing balls and frisbees. Her owners are very pleased to have her as a new addition to their house.

This is a picture of two good buddies. Henry is a 6 years old miniature dachshund. Charlie, his younger brother, is a 6 month old golden retriever. Though Charlie is the larger of the two, Henry is said to be the definite king of the house. Though Charlie has great aspirations to someday be the boss, he still gets along great with his smaller buddy. However, they do sometimes both want the same bone!

Though many people don't think of them as common pets, chinchillas actually make very good pets. These chinchillas are very well loved by their owner. Chile is a male grey chinchilla and is seen here with Cheyenne a female gray velvet chinchilla. We always appreciate having non-traditional pets as GladPets!

This is a picture of Linus, a Labrador retriever & Boxer mix. Linus (Linus the Lab, formally), is about 8 & ½ months old, and loves to play fetch as you can see from this picture taken in late January while playing in the snow. For being just a pup, he is a great retriever, very observant, and aware of his surroundings. Linus does a great job of watching over the house as spends the majority of his time outside where he has lots of room to run & play. He's very friendly, always eager to play and be everybody's friend, and loves to play with most other dogs as well.
